On the 19th September 2020, the Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation organised its first-ever golf day at Top Meadow Golf Club in South Ockenden in Essex.
The event was attended by over 60 golfers who all arrived hoping to be the victor in this inaugural tournament.
As well as an individual Stapleford competition, there were many opportunities to win raffle prizes and golfing memorabilia.
The event was organised by Sharon & Martin Cannon (their daughter Fiona was at school with Sammy Jo), but the Sammy Jo Brandon foundation would like to thank them, and everyone for their support on the day.
We’d also like to thank Top Meadow Golf Club for allowing us to hold our event at their venue and for the superb catering and BBQ held after the golf had finished.
In addition, all entrants received a complimentary 12-month membership to from event sponsors TheSocialGolfer.com (worth £30 each)

Sammy Jo Brandon Golf Day – What they said…
We always strive to improve our events and always ask for feedback from attendees, here’s what some of the golfers on the day said about our event…
“Bacon sandwiches on arrival was a classic start and the photos on the first tee meant the excellent day was captured for posterity. There was a breeze but the sun was bright and warm, perfect for shirt sleeve golf. The course was not too long but the fairways were quite tight and the greens generally protected by two or three bunkers. In our 4ball the golf was mixed but that didn’t really matter. When we finished, we tucked into chicken, sausages and burgers. I think there was salad too but I steered clear of that! A fantastic day out for a cause close to all our hearts. Roll on next year!” – Joe McDavid
“Thank you for inviting me I had a great time. It was good seeing some old friends I think you’re doing a fantastic job and Sammy Jo would be very proud of you both!” – Alan Skinner
“The SJB golf day was superbly organised and was an amazing event, I thought the venue was and course were top quality, the winner who was in my group thoroughly deserved the trophy, even if he was a bandit ha ha! Sammy Jo would of been so proud of Matt and Kim for such a great day, cant wait for next year” – John Bates
“It was lovely to be invited to support this superb charity Golf Day and it was even nicer to play on the day. Our team had a great time and it was great to meet so many willing and support people. We’d be delighted to be involved in this day again. Well done Matt & Kim!” Ian Mullins
Founders of our charity went on to say…
“We’d like to thank everyone that came along and support our first charity golf day. It was so much fun to see everyone mingling and be ‘social’ in this ‘socially distanced’ world right now. Nd given many of our event in 2020 have been postponed of cancelled it was fantastic to see so many new and old faces. We raised more than £2k on the day for Children with Cancer, THANK YOU SO MUCH!”
