WEDDING FAVOURS post thumbnail

Kristy & Dan

When we were planning our wedding we knew exactly what our favours would be.  Whiskey in honour of my dad, as that is a sentimental drink me and my brother have when toasting our late father, for the men and tequila rose for the ladies.  This was in honour of Sammy, my sister in law who sadly passed away leaving behind my brother Jack.  Sammy loved all things pink so tequila rose seemed very fitting, especially as we had had a few tequila roses together in our time.  We then found out that the charity were doing wedding wristsbands so this seemed perfect to have alongside the shots.  We felt it was important to bring awareness for the charity and it was a nice touch on the day.  I saw lots of my guests wearing them and it was good to know that everyone there knows about the Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation.

We wanted to be able to give to charity and by buying the wedding wristbands as our wedding favours we knew the money was going towards something special , we also chose to raise money for SJBF rather then asking for gifts as raising money for a charity and supporting cancer is something extremely close to both of our hearts.

Dean and his family knew Sammy-Jo since she was born, their families have always been close. Dean grew up with Sammy-Jo so it was devastating for all when Sammy-Jo passed away.
It was a pleasure to support the foundation  on our wedding day, we all wore our wrist bands & we continue to wear them ❤
We will always support SJBF.

Lots of love always

Our wedding was in September 2019. Sammy was meant to be walking in front of me down the aisle as my bridesmaid, but sadly she passed away in May 2018.

I first met Sammy when I was 1 day old. Sammy was 20 days old. We lived next door to each other and were the best of friends. All of my earliest memories involve Sammy and her brother Danny.

When we were growing up, our dads used to remove the fences between the gardens so we would go from one to the other to play. Sammy used to make Danny kick a football over to my garden so she would have an excuse to climb over and pick the tomatoes off of my dad’s plants to eat! We went to the same playgroups, junior and senior schools, and later, we shared holidays to Blackpool, Spain, and Turkey.

Whenever we spoke about getting married, we would always promise that we would be each other’s bridesmaids. Sammy was so excited for the wedding. She loved being involved in the planning and keeping the other bridesmaids in check – coming round mine with cards, tiara ideas, bridesmaid group plans. She even made my garter for me to wear on the day with something old, new, borrowed and blue – she really was the most thoughtful person I have ever known!

There was no doubt in my mind that Sammy would still be a part of my wedding. When the opportunity arose to have SJBF white wedding wristbands as favours for all of my guests, I was over the moon. Everyone commented on what a good idea it was to promote the charity and being white made them even more special. It was lovely watching all of our guests party the night away with their wristbands in full glory.

The Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation has raised a phenomenal amount of money for Children with Cancer UK. This charity is also very close to our hearts because Jack’s sister, Grace, who was another one of my bridesmaids, suffered with Leukaemia when she was a child. Grace fought and won her battle with the help of charities like Children with Cancer UK.

The foundation wouldn’t be possible without Sammy’s amazing Mum and Dad, Kim and Matt, and her cousin Robyn, who work tirelessly in an effort to raise as much money and awareness as possible.

Thank you all so much, and a big thank you to Sammy, for your selflessness and vision.

“We used the SJBF wristbands as wedding favours on our special day.

We are friends of the Brandons and wanted to do something with a bit more meaning than just a simple wedding favour.

All of our guests felt it was such a lovely gesture and wore them proudly throughout the day. It also added a nice bit of colour to the tables.

We know how much Sammy loved a wedding, so it was nice having her be part of our special day in her own little way.

The SJBF does great work, raising money for Children with Cancer, so having the wristbands as our favours was a good way to help support their cause.

I would recommend anyone looking to do something a bit different with the money spent on favours to consider the SJBF wristbands.”

Chloe & Billy

“Hello Everyone, our names are Chloe and Billy and we got married last year on the 28th June 2019.

Billy and his family knew Sammy Jo through going to school together, living round the corner from each other and also, their parents were friends.

Sammy’s passing really did hit us and so many people. We chose to support the  Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation by having their wristbands as our wedding favours. Everyone genuinely loved them and every guest wore them all day.

Supporting this wonderful charity was something we felt we could do for Sammy and her family, to achieve their goals in raising money for Children with Cancer.

We loved the thought that our donation would be going to help find a cure for children’s cancer, and we knew it was something Sammy was really passionate about as she really loved children.

The Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation will always have our continuous love and support.”
